BEQUESTS
The simplest way to make a planned gift is to add a provision in your will or revocable trust. A bequest need not be in the tens of thousands of dollars to provide a meaningful gift. Just as with annual contributions, gifts of every size matter. Below are common ways to phrase your intentions for your lawyer or estate planner:
Fixed amount: I give and bequeath to Ohio Citizen Action (or Ohio Citizen Action Education Fund), a non-profit organization incorporated by the laws of the State of Ohio, having its principal address at 1511 Brookpark Rd. Cleveland, OH 44109, the sum of $_____ from my estate to be used as the board of directors directs.
Percentage: I give and bequeath to Ohio Citizen Action (or Ohio Citizen Action Education Fund), a non-profit organization incorporated by the laws of the State of Ohio, having its principal address at 1511 Brookpark Rd. Cleveland, OH 44109, ____% of the total value of my estate to be used as the board of directors directs.
Bequest of residue: (after probate costs and other expenses) I give and bequeath to Ohio Citizen Action (or Ohio Citizen Action Education Fund), a non-profit organization incorporated by the laws of the State of Ohio, having its principal address at 1511 Brookpark Rd. Cleveland, OH 44109, the rest, residue and remainder of my estate to be used as the board of directors directs.

To take advantage of the income tax and estate tax deduction, donors must name Ohio Citizen Action Education Fund as the beneficiary organization. If the deduction is not paramount, please designate Ohio Citizen Action as your beneficiary. Check with a qualified attorney or estate planner about whether the estate tax deduction matters in your situation.
