Jon Husted HB 6 Corr-Update

Ohio's 2019 House Bill 6 has been haunting every Ohioan who pays an electric bill for almost 7 years. Between increased rates to pay for outdated coal plant bailouts, national news coverage, arrests, and an ongoing trial, there are still updates on Ohio's biggest corruption scandal.

Right now, Jon Husted is testifying in the largest public corruption trial in Ohio history.

Jon Husted agreed to testify for the defense in the FirstEnergy bribery trial but didn't show up in person. It's a Zoom testimony for a billion-dollar corruption scandal.

His attorneys told the court he couldn't leave Washington due to the Iran war. Then a citizen caught him on video boarding a flight home to Ohio to headline a $1,000/plate fundraiser.

Here's what's happening in that courtroom: Former FirstEnergy CEO Chuck Jones and VP Mike Dowling are on trial for paying $4.3 million in bribes and spending $61 million to pass House Bill 6 - a billion dollar nuclear bailout that Ohio ratepayers are still paying for.

FirstEnergy called Jon Husted their "golden boy." They funneled $1 million into his campaigns. Federal court documents identify him as "State Official 2." His own schedule shows he met with the man accused of bribery two days before HB 6 was introduced.

This trial is happening in an election year. Ohio voters always deserve to know the full story before you cast a ballot. Transparency is the first step to accountability.
