Group gives three candidates 'A's; one 'D'
10/25/00 6:47 PM COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) -- Three candidates for the Ohio Supreme Court earned an 'A' for disclosing the employers of their campaign donors, while Republican Terrence O'Donnell was given a 'D', a voter advocacy group said Wednesday. O'Donnell, a state appeals judge from Cleveland, disclosed the employer or occupation of 67 percent of his donors. His opponent, Democratic Justice Alice Robie Resnick, disclosed 99 percent, according to an analysis of 1999-2000 campaign finance reports by Ohio Citizen Action. Justice Deborah Cook, a Republican, disclosed the employer of 92 percent of her donors. Her opponent, Democratic Judge Tim Black of Hamilton County Municipal Court disclosed 98 percent, Citizen Action said. Campaigns are required to disclose the employer or occupation of each donor who gives more than $100. If the contributor does not provide that information, the campaign is required to follow up with its best effort to obtain it. O'Donnell said Wednesday that he didn't know what effort his campaign had made to find the occupation of the donors who did not report what their jobs were. "I hope we could correct this as soon as possible," he said. |
