From January 1, 2005 to June 30, 2007, electric utilities operating in Ohio poured nearly three quarters of a million dollars into the campaign coffers of Ohio's current statewide officeholders and members of the Ohio House of Representatives ($361,430) and Senate(240,645). Ohio's Republican and Democratic party committees received $221,423 from the same sources, which include American Electric Power, Cincinnati Gas & Electric, Constellation NewEnergy, Dayton Power and Light, Duke Energy, and FirstEnergy.
