sought on Ohio EPA performance
Comments about a
state agency’s performance on several major environmental issues are
being accepted by federal officials until Jan. 14.
The U.S.
Environmental Protection Agency’s regional office in Chicago has
spent nearly two years evaluating the Ohio EPA’s track record of
carrying out federal mandates at the state level. The special
investigation began in January, 2000, after statewide environmental
groups presented enough evidence to convince federal officials of
the need for such an audit.
The federal agency’s draft report
and related documents are available at public libraries in Toledo
and other Ohio cities, including Cincinnati, Columbus, Cleveland,
Dayton, Dover, Ironton, Marietta, and Youngstown. It also can be
retrieved from the Internet.
