Sep 25: Eramet workers dedicated to improving plant safety

Marietta Times

We recently passed our first year anniversary of the lockout in our plant at Eramet Marietta on Aug. 26.

The union members of USW 1-00639 and our families wish to express our sincere gratitude and thanks to our neighbors, new friends, local businesses, churches, local unions, legislators at the local, state, and national level, and the public for your support during our time of need. Those of you who stopped by our picket line and union hall who donated money and food to our cause, supported us with prayers, visits, and kind words, will never be forgotten. You know who you are, as there are too many to list here.

Our time of strife is behind us now, and we are still attempting to make our factory a safer and healthier place to earn a living, and by doing that become a more environmentally friendly neighbor. We, as your employed neighbors, are using our past training and experience to make this happen. Most of us have been employed there for more than 15 years and welcome the opportunity to make this happen with the company’s support and dedication to work with us. Improving operations with new furnaces, upgraded scrubber systems, and other needed items makes us a viable, efficient, and safer plant to work in.

Again, thank you, Mid-Ohio Valley, and may God bless you. This is truly the best place to live in our great country!
