July 14, 2008 Annick Duvivier-Richardson 420 Lewiston Rd Kettering, OHIO 45429 ( Congratulations for this year’s festivities and the effort for Peace ! ) Mr. President, It is from a Dayton suburb that I write this letter to you, joining tens of thousand other people in order to draw your attention to the "Eramet problem." As you know it all too well, there is a serious problem of pollution with the release of manganese dust in the air at the Marietta plant in Ohio. I am sure that you are aware of the noxious effects of manganese, a powerful neurotoxin affecting the brain and the nervous system in ways similar to lead. The facilities in Europe are, it appears, much cleaner, and I know that Eramet Headquarters are in Paris. France’s reputation is at stake, but you can use your influence to improve the operation of the Marietta plant. As a French (and also American) person, it is a topic dear to me, and I am certain that you can do something since you are a man of action. Thanking you in advance, and best wishes for an excellent term, Annick D. Richardson |
