All of the neighbors agreed strongly that there was a major air pollution problem. Most complained of the extreme odors and the metals in the air that they could taste. A number of people were well versed on health effects of manganese exposure, and one woman had already started to gather data from surveys and agencies on the extent of health problems in the area.
