The Nuclear Regulatory Commission will hold two public meetings
next week about FirstEnergy's damaged Davis-Besse nuclear power
plant in Oak Harbor.
The NRC will meet with FirstEnergy officials in Rockville, Md.,
from 1 to 5 p.m. Tuesday in NRC's headquarters to review the Akron
utility's report on how and why boric acid ate two cavities on top
of the reactor vessel head, a vital safety component. The public can
attend or listen in by dialing 1-888-810-3138 and entering passcode
1234.
The newly formed NRC oversight panel will hold its first public
meeting with utility officials at 7 p.m. Thursday in the Oak Harbor
Junior High School, 315 Church St. The meeting is intended to
introduce panel members and discuss how they will be a part of the
Davis-Besse investigation.
