NRC to hear FirstEnergy plans for D-B
Officials from the Nuclear Regulatory Commission will hear
FirstEnergy's plan for improving the safety culture at Davis-Besse
Nuclear Power Station during a meeting Thursday in Lisle, Ill.
The meeting is scheduled for 10 a.m. central standard time, which
is 11 a.m. eastern standard time.
At the last regular meeting at Camp Perry about two weeks ago,
NRC officials asked for greater detail on how FirstEnergy expects to
improve the safety focus of workers and management at the
Davis-Besse plant.
The Carroll Township plant has been off-line since a routine
refueling outage nearly a year ago. Workers found a football-sized
hole in the reactor head caused by boric acid corrosion.
Area residents can listen to the Thursday meeting via
teleconference by calling (888) 577-8995 and giving the password
"Davis-Besse."
