Dear Editor:

Referring to Jef Benedetti's March 17, 2004 article on Columbus Steel Drum's "offer of money to educate the public...", this action by Columbus Steel Drum appears to be smoke and mirrors to negate the fact they have not been in compliance with EPA regulations for years.

In an economy where it takes $5,000-8,000 to educate a student, imagine the pathetic impact $5,000 over two years would have! Could it be Columbus Steel Drum's president wants to shift their burden of public relations to an entity which has class?

Ohio Citizen Action was correct in recognizing this "offer" as a sham.
