Brush keeps going, people still dying
Approximately one year ago, The Blade reported a series of investigative articles about Brush Wellman and chronic beryllium disease. The articles stated how Brush officials knew about the risk from exposure to beryllium dust. The series also told individual stories about people with this awful disease. One of those people was my mother, Marilyn Miller.
This week is the second anniversary of her death and others have suffered and died before and after her. However, Brush Wellman is still producing beryllium and people are still being exposed and becoming sick.
How many people have to be affected and how many families have to lose loved ones before something is done to stop this?
