"It's very striking what successes Ohio Citizen Action has had -- the kind of mainstream respect the organization has earned. Accountability through thoroughness -- we're careful when we make pronouncements -- we pick our battles well."

Thomas Trimble is a partner with Lamkin, Van Eman, Trimble, Beals & Dougherty. He has had a long interest in environmental concerns - specifically toxic exposure through air and water. His representation of individual people in his law practice has developed his attention to citizen activism.

Tom has been a trial lawyer since 1983, and has limited his practice to serious personal injury, medical negligence, and wrongful death claims. He holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Bowling Green State University and received his law degree from Capital University Law School, where he was an editor of its law review.

Before entering private practice, Tom worked for several years as a claims representative handling personal injury and wrongful death cases for a major automobile insurance company. He has lectured regularly at continuing legal education seminars in the areas of personal injury, trial practice, and insurance law. He is a member of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, Columbus Bar Association, American Bar Association, and the Ohio Academy of Trial Lawyers, and serves on its board of trustees.

Tom would like to increase the diversity of the board of directors with citizen activists of different backgrounds. He would also like to see more collaboration with others. "I would like to continue to link with other environmental groups. I think there's a lot of overlap. Ohio Citizen Action has a good track record of working with other groups, but I think we can always do better."

Before becoming a board member, Tom was impressed with the enthusiasm of the canvassers that came to his door. "It's very striking what successes Ohio Citizen Action has had -- the kind of mainstream respect the organization has earned. Accountability through thoroughness -- we're careful when we make pronouncements -- we pick our battles well."

Tom lives in Hilliard with his wife Rita and their two children.
