Florence (Flo) Beidler has lived in Devola for 32 years. Flo was compelled to join Neighbors for Clean Air after she learned more about toxic air pollution in Marietta from the Eramet facility. Her daughter, Caroline, is a founding member of Neighbors for Clean Air. Florence learned of the extent of Eramet’s pollution when Caroline moved approximately 4 miles from the Eramet plant, and began experiencing symptoms from the noxious odors and toxic air emissions. Flo also has one other daughter and three grandchildren all living in Southeast Ohio. Flo has an associate degree in Early Childhood Development from West Virginia University in Parkersburg. She also has a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Marietta College. She continues to work on an as needed basis in the mental health field in Marietta. Her latest endeavor is serving as a Tourist Guide in Marietta for the Marietta Tourist Bureau.
